P&O Cruises have sold their ship, Pacific Eden to CMV Travel & Leisure to make some room for the arrival of Golden Princess to the brand in 2020.
Pacific Eden will join Cruise & Maritime Voyages in early 2019 and will become the sixth ship in their fleet. She will be delivered in Singapore following a few changes such as the livery and a re-brand onboard.
Following the ship’s refresh she will be serve both the German and Australian cruise markets, heading to Northern Europe via Suez on it’s inaugural sailing. During May to October the ship will operate under TransOcean Kreuzfahrten, CMV’s German brand. Then between December and March she will return back to Australia and homeport from Perth and Adelaide offering more traditional scenic cruises.
CMV chairman and ceo Christian Verhounig said “as part of our mid-term growth plans the ship will provide the requirement level of extra capacity needed in Australia and Germany as we continue to grow our international business”.
The cruise line are also running a competition to vote for the ship’s new identity, with one of a famous explorer set to be the new name. The shortlist includes Vasco Da Gama, Pytheras, Henry Hudson and Amerigo Vespucci.
