Princess Cruises Launches Biggest Ever Australia Season

Princess Cruises has unveiled its biggest ever Australia programme, which includes record capacity in Sydney and Adelaide and the deployment of its two newest ships.

The 2020-21 programme, which goes on sale from April 11, 2019, offers holidaymakers a choice of 123 cruises, with five Princess ships departing from six ports across Australia between October 2020 and April 2021.

Princess will visit almost 80 destinations in 19 countries and increase the number of cruise days to their highest ever level. The programme features visits to 14 UNESCO World Heritage sites and a range of late night departures.

The season will see the line’s newest ship, the 3,560-guest Majestic Princess, return to Australia for her third season to sail alongside sister ship, Regal Princess, which will make her inaugural visit. Both vessels will be based in Sydney and offer 35 cruises between them, boosting Princess Cruises’ Sydney capacity to record levels.

The move marks the first time that Princess Cruises has deployed two Royal-Class ships from the same port outside of Florida.

Additional highlights include:

·        Regal Princess’ maiden voyage from Sydney to New Zealand, taking in ports including Bay of Islands, Auckland, Picton (Marlborough Wine Region), Christchurch (Lyttleton), Dunedin and Fiordland. Departing on December 2, 2020

·        An unprecedented 20 cruises to and from Adelaide, representing the biggest ever cruise industry commitment to South Australia. The deployment features six roundtrip cruises from Adelaide on Sea Princess and Sapphire Princess, as well as a further 14 one-way itineraries on Sea Princess, Sapphire Princess and Majestic Princess. Which departs Adelaide on November 16, 2020

·        Sapphire Princess will take in destinations such as New Zealand, South Australia and Tasmania on a series of cruises from Melbourne and Sydney. The ship will also sail on a Northern Explorer itinerary, taking guests from Melbourne to Fremantle via Darwin and the Kimberley region including the ship’s maiden visit to Eden. Which departs from Melbourne on October 28, 2020

·        Sea Princess will be based in Perth (Fremantle) to sail the Western Australian coastline from Broome to Albany and longer voyages to South East Asia. Departing Perth (Fremantle) on January 11, 2021

Appearing via a video recording from Los Angeles, Stuart Allison, Senior Vice President Asia Pacific for Princess Cruises said “this will be the biggest deployment we’ve ever had in Sydney”. “Not only will this be the first time in history that Princess Cruises has deployed two RoyalClass ships from the same home port outside Florida, but we will also have a record number of premium balcony and mini-suite staterooms available,” he said. Other firsts will see the arrival of the Ocean Medallion Class technology on board Regal Princess, while Sapphire Princess will mark an inaugural season in Melbourne.

Princess Cruises is offering a 12-night Australia and New Zealand sailing on Regal Princess. Departing January 22, 2021 and sailing from Sydney to Auckland, ports of call include Hobart, Fiordland National Park (scenic cruising), Dunedin (Port Chalmers), Akaroa, Picton, Wellington and Tauranga.
