Cruise & Maritime Voyages Welcomes Vasco da Gama to Fremantle

Cruise & Maritime Voyages (CMV) is delighted to introduce Vasco da Gama to Fremantle for the first time as part of her inaugural Australasian season.

Vasco da Gama will homeport in Fremantle from today, taking guests around Western Australia and up to Asia throughout January and into February.

“We are proud to be welcoming Vasco da Gama into Fremantle today for the first time,” says Managing Director of Cruise & Maritime Voyages Australia, Dean Brazier.

“The ship has just completed the world’s first-ever Boutique Gin and Culinary ocean cruise, sailing from Adelaide, which is one of the new themed cruises we introduced this year. We’re pleased to report the experience has been extremely popular with our guests.

“We look forward to bringing another themed cruising event, ‘Fringe on the Water’, to Fremantle later this season, which is going to be spectacular. This is something that, to our knowledge, has not been done on board a cruise ship before and consequently has attracted much media and customer interest. We’re proud to be working with FRINGE WORLD on this in-port, overnight experience.”

Vasco da Gama has a 1,220 guest capacity and also cruises from Adelaide, London (Tilbury), Auckland, Sydney, and Singapore. The ship’s inaugural season marks the cruise line’s largest Australasian deployment yet.

The ship offers two gorgeous pools, the well-equipped Jade Wellness Centre and Spa, a two-tiered theatre, and five inviting bars and lounges. Six dining venues feature cuisine from around the world and the ‘Chef’s Table’ provides a degustation menu plus an insight into the workings of the galley.

“This ship gives travellers a chance to experience parts of Australia that they may not have considered before, including ports which are a first for our cruise line such as the beautiful Kuri Bay in the Kimberley region,” continues Mr Brazier.

“Vasco da Gama offers a value-for-money cruising experience with an intimate, country club-like atmosphere on board, ensuring our ships never feel crowded.

“It is expected that 7,200 guests will travel on CMV cruises departing Fremantle this season, and we will showcase Australia’s North West in particular with three visits to Broome planned, two of which will be overnight stays.”

In the ship’s 2020/21 season, CMV will make compelling domestic destinations even more accessible to Australians, visiting ports of call that are new to Vasco da Gama, such as Darwin and Port Arthur, while Geelong will be a first for the cruise line.

Vasco da Gama also provides a great opportunity for guests to “go it alone” with 40 cabins for solo travellers, guest meet-ups and a ship full of like-minded guests and friendly staff. Guests are encouraged to come aboard Vasco da Gama during her first CMV season and enjoy her warm and personable atmosphere for themselves.
